BookNest is operated by:

BookNest is a free book tracking and reading organization platform that allows users to:

• Track books they are reading, have read, or want to read
• Set and monitor reading goals and challenges
• Write reviews and comments about books
• Upload profile pictures and images in reviews
• Connect with other readers and join book clubs
• Discover new books and receive recommendations

BookNest is completely free. All features are available at no cost, and there are no paid tiers or premium features. We do not charge for any functionality.

To use BookNest, you must create an account by providing:

• A valid email address
• A secure password
• A display name (optional)

Age Requirement: You must be at least 16 years old to create an account and use BookNest. By registering, you confirm that you meet this age requirement.

You are responsible for:

• Providing accurate and complete registration information
• Maintaining the confidentiality of your password
• All activities that occur under your account
• Notifying us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account

You may submit content to BookNest, including reviews, comments, ratings, profile pictures, and images in your reviews ("User Content").

Ownership: You retain ownership of your User Content. However, by submitting User Content to BookNest, you grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content in connection with operating and providing the service.

Responsibility: You are solely responsible for your User Content. You represent and warrant that:

• You own or have the necessary rights to your User Content
• Your User Content does not infringe any third-party rights
• Your User Content complies with these Terms and our Community Guidelines

Your use of BookNest is subject to our Community Guidelines, which are incorporated into these Terms by reference.

You agree not to:

• Violate any applicable laws or regulations
• Post content that is defamatory, obscene, hateful, or discriminatory
• Harass, abuse, or threaten other users
• Upload malicious software or harmful content
• Spam or engage in manipulative behavior (e.g., fake reviews, vote manipulation)
• Impersonate others or misrepresent your affiliation
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
• Use the service for any commercial purposes without our consent

BookNest provides tools for users to report content that violates our Community Guidelines. You may report reviews, comments, or profiles that you believe are inappropriate.

We reserve the right to:

• Review reported content and take appropriate action
• Remove or modify content that violates these Terms or our Community Guidelines
• Temporarily or permanently suspend accounts that engage in violations
• Cooperate with law enforcement when required

If your account is suspended, you may submit an appeal through our appeal process.

BookNest uses the following third-party services to operate and improve our platform:

• PostHog: We use PostHog for product analytics to understand how users interact with our service and to improve the user experience. PostHog collects anonymized usage data.
• Sentry: We use Sentry for error tracking and monitoring to identify and fix technical issues. Sentry may collect technical information about errors that occur during your use of the service.

The BookNest service, including its design, logos, graphics, and software, is owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, or create derivative works based on our service without our express written permission.

Book information displayed on BookNest (titles, covers, descriptions) is sourced from third-party databases and remains the property of the respective rights holders.

We strive to provide reliable access to BookNest, but we do not guarantee that the service will be available at all times. The service may be temporarily unavailable due to:

• Scheduled maintenance
• Technical difficulties or errors
• Circumstances beyond our control

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time, with or without notice.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law:

• BookNest is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied
• We do not warrant that the service will be error-free or uninterrupted
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service

Note: These limitations do not affect mandatory consumer rights under German law (BGB) or EU law. In cases of intent or gross negligence, or injury to life, body, or health, liability is not limited.

By You: You may delete your account at any time through your account settings. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

By Us: We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

• Violate these Terms or our Community Guidelines
• Engage in conduct that is harmful to other users or the service
• Provide false information during registration

Upon termination, your right to use the service ceases immediately. Provisions that by their nature should survive termination will survive (including ownership, disclaimers, and limitations of liability).

We may update these Terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by:

• Posting the updated Terms on this page with a new "Last updated" date
• Sending you an email notification (for significant changes)

Your continued use of BookNest after any changes indicates your acceptance of the updated Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Germany, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

Any disputes arising from or relating to these Terms or your use of BookNest shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Germany.

EU Consumer Rights: If you are a consumer residing in the European Union, you also enjoy the protection afforded by mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence. Nothing in these Terms affects your rights as a consumer to rely on such mandatory provisions.

Online Dispute Resolution: The European Commission provides an online dispute resolution platform at https://ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
